Jalalabad Association of California Inc. (JACA) is a non-profit, non-political organization for people from the greater Sylhet area (northeastern corner of Bangladesh, consisting of Habiganj District, Moulvibazar District, Sunamganj District, and Sylhet District) of Bangladesh who live in California, primarily in Los Angeles. The association was founded in 2008.
The association is dedicated to uniting and empowering the Greater Sylheti community in California. Established to preserve Sylheti heritage and promote Bangladeshi arts, culture, and social solidarity, JACA serves as a cultural and social hub for Jalalabadians while fostering peace, prosperity, and mutual support. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the association emphasizes socio-cultural development, education, leadership, and humanitarian initiatives, aligning its activities with the values and traditions of Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Governed by a 25-member Executive Committee elected biennially, JACA ensures transparent operations through structured roles, including President, Vice Presidents, and specialized secretaries overseeing finance, youth affairs, women’s empowerment, and cultural activities. Strict protocols for meetings, voting, and member eligibility maintain accountability, while an independent Election Commission guarantees fair leadership transitions. Membership requires adherence to ethical standards, focusing on inclusivity for individuals of Sylheti origin or marital connection.
Beyond cultural preservation, JACA advocates for social welfare, leadership development, and crisis response, extending its impact locally and internationally. By bridging generational and geographical divides, the association nurtures a sense of identity among youth and fosters collaboration with global Sylheti communities.
